
Jon Spearman is a native New Yorker whose journey with pizza began in 1986, when he took his first job in a local pizzeria. While working his way through university, he honed his skills in kitchens across New York.

After a brief stint in high-tech manufacturing, Jon returned to his culinary roots, cooking at Paley’s Place in Portland, Oregon, under the guidance of James Beard Award-winning chef Vitaly Paley.
His next step took him to the Nike headquarters nearby, launching a long career as a footwear executive that would take him all across Asia — including many years based in Hong Kong and mainland China.
In 2017, Jon and his wife Celina — who comes from a family of restaurateurs in Macau — moved with their young daughter to Bangkok. There, they opened Pizzeria Mazzie, a small, intimate restaurant built on passion, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for pizza. It wasn’t long before Mazzie was named one of Thailand’s, and Asia’s, top pizzerias.
Today, Jon and Celina are based in Europe, where they are working on expanding the Mazzie story — one pizza at a time.
